Word game fan? I am. Big time. There's lots of them in the App Store, and I try to take a look at every one. Most are just graphically different versions of each other and the choice is simply over which look you prefer. Once in a while a new word game comes along that is unique to all others in the category, and Oh, My Word! is one of them.

The premise of the game is a completely original concept. It stays within a rigid frame work, the game presents a 5 letter word. Your goal is to guess the word by coming up with other five letter words. Your guesses will be placed either above the secret word or below it depending on where it lies in the dictionary in correlation to the secret word. You have 50 guesses to hone in on the secret word and guess it before you lose. You can receive up to 3 hints. It may sound simple, but it is very, very challenging.

You can select a timed mode to make things sportier. There are global leaderboards, Facebook and Twitter sharing options, an expanding word list as well as slick sounds and sharp graphics.

Oh, My Word! is a very addictive game. Because you have to place the words in order of appearance in the dictionary it makes you use your vocabulary in a completely unique way compared to other word games. This is a great game for long journeys or waits, it offers diverse re-playability, the options are only limited by the amount of words in the English dictionary and your personal vocabulary. There's a free version of the game so you can check it out first, but if you are a word game aficionado it is well worth it to go straight for the $0.99 version, the game has some serious shelf life and is also evolving with updates.
