I love my iPhone camera. True, it takes pretty low quality pictures compared to what it could, but it's always with me, it is better than the average mobile phone camera and the apps make it unbeatable. You can do anything to an iPhone image from your photo library. B+W is one of the basic filters you can apply to your pics, but A+ Black and White Camera does a better job than any other B+W conversion app available.
All the monochrome conversion apps in the App Store apply the filter and render directly on the iPhone. If you take a close look at the resulting image its quality has been degraded below that of the original image and when you zoom in close you will notice they are heavily pixelated.
A+ Black and White Camera takes an image selected from your library or shot from within the app and uploads it to a server to do the B+W processing, then downloads it right back onto your iPhone. The process takes the exact same amount of time as your other B+W app but the end result is a far higher quality image. The algorithm that the developer found was too big to place on the iPhone in the app thus the server in cyber space.
If you are an iPhone camera buff t hen you probably have at least one B+W processing app on your hone screen. I certainly did. After using A+ Black and White Camera and comparing the images to ones I created with my other apps I removed them from phone. You will se a vast improvement in photo quality. If you want to tweak even more shots just throw the image in any one of your other editing apps. Another $0.99 app that has managed to innovate and blow away it's competition.
