Now you can be a know-it-all about anywhere you go. Need the Best burger within 3 miles? Brewery Lofts. Allergies acting up? See Balson Boris, MD, Allergist. Want to shoot a few quivers with the old compound bow? Walpole Sportsman's Association. Future Tap's Where To? app has been a big winner in the app store and the reasons why are obvious after you fire it up and try it out.
Where To? uses the iPhones GPS to pinpoint your location and then offers you local options for whatever service you are looking for. The scroll wheel type controls for the app make typing unnecessary. Simply select an icon, narrow your selection down with the following lists and then weigh your options in Google Maps in map, hybrid or satellite view. The app includes more than 600 categories of services and 1,900 brands- basically it has an option for everything. The app has some other bells and whistles too, you can search for services anywhere in the world, you can have the app track you and adjust accordingly as you move and the web viewer is integrated so you can view the location's homepage within the app. If you want to take a shot in the dark, shake the phone and see what you get. The ability to stay within the app to view maps and web pages is a real time saver. You can easily save your favorites and results of recent searches.
This is a fantastically helpful app, especially for travelers. It gives high quality options for eating, drinking, movies, medical help, schools, transportation, groceries- anything that you could possibly need. It takes all the guesswork out of doing a search on your browser and fishing around for the best answers, all you need is literally in the palm of your hand. The interface is elegant, simple and easy to use.
Where To? is a great app to keep on your travel apps screen. Next time that Flight Tracker tells you that you are stuck in Chicago for the night, dive into Where To? and get your cab ride, hotel room and relaxing brew-pub meal dialed in in under a minute. And right now- coldest beer in the area? Where To? doesn't have the answer to that one- it's in my fridge and I'm headed that way.
