My dad was a list maker and he forced it on me. He made these confusing, intricate lists using different colored pens, with lots of arrows pointing to nothing, with sub tasks and sub-sub tasks. Me, I went more for the back of the hand, damp cocktail napkin, ripped ticket stub, crumpled up dollar bill type list. Usually written down using a dull pencil. Now I show up my dad's lists with my iPhone. And I keep it simple.
This is exactly what Simple Task does, it keeps "to do" lists in a simple, linear, elegant fashion. Nothing fancy, just the bare-bones necessities for list making. There are a lot of list apps out there that go way overboard with such a simple thing. Even Notes and Reminders, the native Mac apps, seem contrived in that they have to live in Mail on the desktop, and Notes is not strictly a "to-do list" or reminder type service.
With Simple Task just select the + symbol, name the task, describe the task, select a color code and flag it if it is an urgent task. You can assign colors to different genres, like red for groceries, blue for errands etc, etc. Hit save and the task is saved in the Pending list. When you have completed the task simply swipe the left side of the task's bar like in any native iPhone app, and select Complete. The task will move to the Complete list. Select edit from there to delete the data permanently. I like to keep a completed list around for a while so I can show people that I'm not the sloth they think I am.A bonus is that in the update that is coming out soon Simple Task will synch with a Mac desktop app. That will pretty much eliminate Notes/Reminders for me.
As far as apps go, I am a huge fan of keeping it simple. Too many features and a great app that addresses a simple problem can be completely ruined. This is the opposite case for Simple Task. If you are looking for the most straightforward task reminder out there, this is the one.
