Spica is a Super Monochrome filter for your camera. Lots of other photo editing apps offer black and white conversion and monochrome filters, but this little app consistently creates the best super-contrasty images I've seen yet in the App Store.
Like any other really simple photo filter app out there, just fire up Spica and take a shot within the app. Select "use" and the app very quickly spits out a great monochromatic and very contrasty image that it stores in your Camera Roll. Light, shadow and sharpness are really enhanced beautifully. This is a photo app that was obviously created by an experienced photographer. Just one little improvement that I would like to see, allow the user to choose a pre-existing image from the Photo Library. But that would detract from the simplicity of the app which is part of it's beauty.
By spending around $10.00 or $15.00 on photo apps any iPhone camera can be turned into the most powerful and versatile mobile phone camera available. Shelling out $1.00 to add Spica to your photo toolbar is definitely worth it, you'll get a lot of cool images from it.
