My old roommate is famous. He went from a shy, unassuming, nice, quiet little jewish boy to a record spinning, trance music cranking, 3 day and night bump and grind dancing, hot, sweaty techno-bashing party producer. Like raves, only not like raves-way, way better. Like people fly in from Europe for his parties. This is an app he'd flip for, or any other true lover of trance, dance or techno would flip for. This is an app that defines indie in every way.
iTechno is an app that allows DJ's to upload their music for all to hear, and for all to hear what DJ's have uploaded. The application consists of 3 parts. There is a "Top DJ" set where you will find the most popular set of music to date. The music is voted to top spots by the app users. There is a little DJ profile with album art too. Pretty slick. The next part is the "DJ Set", where you will find all the available DJ selections. Right now I'm listening to a track called Swallen, and I'm pumping it up yo- it's the shizznit. I'm in the groove. Most of these selections are all at least an hour long- insane. The next section is "Opportunity". This is where this app gets really, really cool. Any DJ can submit their music to be inserted into the app and listened to by the head pumping, hip thrusting, ass bumping, thigh grinding, profusely sweating masses.
This is a truly one of a kind app in the App Store. It defines what is happening in the music world today- people are making their own music and sharing it with the masses, cutting out giant corporations and massive profits, the way music should be made and listened to. This is the most creative distribution method I've ever seen. This is more than a music player, it is a social experiment and a really, really impressive act of freedom.
Every music lover out there should get this app and put it right next to Pandora, or Slacker, or whatever pipeline you use to feed your head with tunes. I guarantee that you will love this app, it is a direct hit winner. I know that Steve is out there somewhere in Brooklyn right now with the phones on, bumping iTechno on his iPhone, getting inspired, and planning the next great, huge, international 3 day major-rager.
$0.99 for hours and hours of totally original, totally indie DJ beats? Unbeatable.
